If I were to buy in bulk it wight be cheaper at Costco- but frankly my kids are grown and our family size is dwindling so I have little use for stocking so much product.

I consider the PX & Commissaries to be one of our greatest benefits, I only wish 'they' had kept their promise of free health care; after all the Congress & the Senate have much better care after serving only one term- my hubby Served for almost 23 years (and I was medically retired). We now have to pay for care (Tricare for Life is TERRIBLE- I have to use this since I am on Medicare but am under 65), mu hubby & sons pay for Tricare Prime.
I have always found that overseas commissaries are far better than state-side commissaries(Hawaii included). Good post!

If one goes to commissaries.com, they have a list of bases and clicking on the base will give you the caselot sale dates.

I hope its better than the fall sale. I was so excited to go to ours, but it was really small. There was nothing outside, and usually they have a big sidewalk sale along with the inside sale area. One of the vendors told me customer response was lukewarm to the previous one so the caselot sale was smaller that time around.

I have noticed the case lot sales are smaller. I think the reason is they have been offering less deals over the years. I would use case lots sales to stock up on big items so when I deployed my wife would have a little easier time going to the commissary with the kids.

Case lot sales are a place where you can make your voices heard.

As a worker for deca, I know the grocery manager (general manager) gets a list of what things are available to choose from. What we can do as customers, is ASK for some things to be carried. Let's say you want spag sauce...you need to ask if that is going to be on the case lot. Even if it's not on the list, there is a chance that the manager can get with the sales rep. and work out a deal for the spag. sauce. Also, anything you see trucks for (small delievery trucks, such as bread and chips) you can ask for those to be included, again you might not get it all, but we got the 50 pack chip variety pack in ours, due to requests.

I do most of my grocery shopping at the commissary, it's not as expensive as safeway or fred myers.

For the most part I find that the comissary has the cheapest meats and name brand goods. The problem is that there are no store or knock off brands. So brand for brand the comissary is cheaper, but not item for item, due to the lack of store brands.
