Hey all- I'm moving to Milwaukee next month and I'm considering a place in the greenfield / alcott park / morgan heights area. Is this a safe and nice area to live in? I'm going to be working at MCW and the commute on the map doesn't look too bad. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

That's a very safe area with tree lined streets. Plenty of parking and rents and housing is a good bargain there as well. Close to HWY 100(S.108th St) and S.76th where there is tons of shopping and food choices. Great freeway access and you should have no problem communing in the morning.

Depends on what you're looking for. This area is fine and considered very nice by many. Some would find it boring and not a popular destination. Nearby Greendale is considered "higher-end," but it's further from MCW, and again, don't know what you're looking for. Are you purchasing, or just renting? Did you look in the Wauwatosa or Brookfield areas at all? I would recommend these over what you mentioned, if for no other reason than to avoid 894 and Hwy 100 for commuting (although these are terrible depending on what time of the day you're driving on them).

Seconded! Piece of advice for you in moving here: get to know the main roads and side streets. Throughout most of the day, interstate travel is simply atrocious, pointless, and an accident waiting to happen. You'll be slamming down on your breaks every 2 seconds. From about 3 p.m. extending all the way to 7:00 p.m., the expressways, namely 894 and I94, are useless. In the mornings, eastbound on I94 and northbound on 894 are useless as well. That was one of the reasons I transferred colleges and went rural. I usually take extended main roads to get to my destination, like Bluemound, Greenfield avenue, National avenue, Oklahoma, highway 100, north avenue, etc. As round-a-bout said, these main roads are busy but at least you're actually moving faster than 10 miles per hour before coming to a full stop every couple of feet.

Thanks all! That was all very helpful. I'm looking to rent in this area. Wauwatosa looked nice as well but it was a little more expensive in certain areas. I hope the commute won't be terrible, but I'll brace myself for the worse.
