I've come into possession of an Antique radio. I have no need for it and my research tells me it is a collectable. I'd like to see it go to a good home rather than thrown in the trash. Does anyone know where I might try and sell it at? Do most antique stores buy these kinds of things? Or should I sell it on eBay? The radio weighs quite a bit so I'm worried about shipping costs.

Antique radios are still in great supply, everyone seems to have one or two they inherited from grandparents. The value is not much, maybe a couple of hundred in most cases depending on condition, much less if they are not working. Dealers have to make a profit and most want at least 100%, so you would get half of the value. That means you are better off selling it yourself. The best chance to get full value is at a swap meet, but then you may have to pay for a space, and with only that item to sell there goes much of the profit. You can also look for a local auction house but again you will lose as much as 50% to the house in commission. We have one, plus a Victrola and two antique treadle sewing machines, and are just sitting on them. Maybe in a few more generations they will be worth enough to bother selling.

I've decided to keep the radio and think it is a nice piece. Do you know of anywhere that might restore it? The radio works but the fabric/mesh on the front is very dirty and worn and the electric cord is very thin.
