Possibly moving to MKE with four little kids (Milwaukee, Whitefish Bay: loft, daycares)

We live in NYC and may have the opportunity to relocate to MKE with out kids, ages 1-6.

We're thinking about Shorewood/Whitefish Bay and public schools. Or perhaps buying in the city (Donner Woods?) and doing Catholic schools. (Or maybe even buying a loft in the Third Ward near a park, but that's for a different thread.)

A few questions:

1. What kinds of after-school activities are available to kids ages 1-6, and what do they generally cost? Sports, arts, etc.
2. Can you recommend any good preschools?
3. Is there a preschool that features a "2's" class? Are there "3's" classes that meet every day?
4. Are there day camps available in the summer?

There are preschools/daycares that have full day-every day classes for as young as 6 months. Many are quite excellent. I'm mostly familiar with the south side, but I'm certain finding one in those areas you mentioned would be no problem.
Day camps in the summer also seem to be common. It shouldn't be any problem at all to find what you're looking for. One of Milwaukee's strengths is that it's family-oriented and taking care of the kids is a high priority. It seems to be very active and engaging for stuff like that.
