I would tend to agree with Bauman.

"There are available spaces at the nearby Marcus Center for the Performing Arts parking structure, and the 1000 N. Water St. office building, Klein said.

The developer needs to really have a plan for parking other than the PAC and 1000 N Water.

The tenant demographic for the building is less likely to rely on cars to get to work, he (Klein) said.

Highly unlikely.

“The tenants here, if they are getting in their car every single morning and driving to work, it’s probably not for them,” he said"

But the majority of tenants will probably have transportation for off hours.

It seems odd to oppose a project for lacking something that we have such an over abundance of in Milwaukee. I personally love my car, need my car, and wouldn't give it up even if I didn't need it. However, do we really believe there aren't at least 100 people out there who might want the auto-free lifestyle?

This is the first new construction without parking... will Milwaukee be that worse off if this experiment is not wildly successful? There are plenty of older buildings on the east side without parking yet the availability of parking is far worse than this part of downtown. I'm sure these residents will get by.

In the end, if this is successful we may see this as a new type of living situation that people can choose from. If it's not successful, we won't have to worry about complaining about this phenomenon any further.
