Right now it's looking like the Binghamton, NY area, but this might / could change.

Going to be driving thru the area on our way to Chicago. We may stay a day or 2 in Erie, PA, so not sure how much time we'll have, but it looks like the area would be a nice to stop. We are considering stoping for a few days on the way to Chicago or on the return trip back to Maine.

Route as of now.

- Amsterdam, NY area
- Binghamton, NY area
- Erie, PA area
- Chicago Area
- Greenbay WI area,
- Sturgeon Bay Area
- UP MI area, Marquette area?
- Sault Ste Marie area
- Mackinac Island, Area
- Traverse City, WI area
- Lansing, MI area
- Toledo, Cleveland Area
- Rochester, NY area
- Watertown NY area
- Derby VT area

So we will be in each of these areas for a few days (except Chicago, which maybe 3, 4 days, in September, and we are wondering about a few things.

- Little Italy or other ethnic areas (Polish, Germany…) Good Deli / Grocery Shops
- Water Front Hotels
- Yarn Shops
- Candy / Chocolate Shops
- Bakeries
- Any walking paths
- Country Fairs
- Botanical gardens
- Museums
- Points of Interest
- Coffee Roasters & Loose Leaf Tea Shops

Skip,

Chicago has a neighborhood along Taylor Street with the name "Little Italy" but really there are a few places spread around Chicago where there will be a conglomeration of Italian restaurants, delis, etc.

Margie's Candies (2 locations) is a well known ice cream place (1 of them is known to be a favorite place of Al Capone, as well as having been visited by The Beatles).

The Lake Front, especially on the north side, is FULL of people (more so in Summer as there will be tons of swimmers and volleyball players). But always great for people watching.

There are neighborhood ethnic museums, in addition to the major touristy ones you will find along the lake, on the south side.

So YES, definitely, reach out when your trip approaches.

And HEY, I did not see our great city of MILWAUKEE on your itinerary!

Thank you very much for the input. Yeah, with so little time and so much we could do, some places will be left off the list

We have recently add Milwaukee to the list, mostly from the number of Cheese / deli Shops in the area. Part of this trip is to get "Cool" stuff for our kids Christmas Stocking i.e., Coffees, teas, Cheeses and such. While some may not last long enough, if we get to try these things and like them, we'll hope we can purchase online as the Holiday gets closers.

We won't likely take in any to many sites with a lot of people. This is mostly because of the wife's medical condition and all, and heck we can see people on the beaches and stuff, right here in Maine (Old Orchard Beach, is a CRAZY busy places for beach goers / Canadians and their tight outfits)

Well, if you drive up to Milwaukee from Chicago on I-94, you'll have plenty of choices for "cheese and porno". I suggest the Mars Cheese Castle. For cheese. Can't help you with the porno.

Oh, the Cheese Castle is #1 stop we'll make on our way north from Chicago.

Oh, it's likely you are saying "Canadians in their skimpy outfits" as the reference to porno

No. There's a long standing (local) joke about the FIBs coming up from Chicago to buy "cheese and porno" because of an abundance of cheese shops and adult bookstores at the exits of I-94 just north of the Illinois state line.

And of course, you'll be sure to pull off the interstate to have your picture taken in front of the "Bong Recreation Area" sign, too.
