My wife lived in warm climates her whole life until the last 4 years (I meet her in LA). The first winter was very very hard for her, but last winter she told me it was her favorite winter yet, because we got so much snow. We both think winters get long, but we also try to go somewhere warm for a trip at least once a winter, which makes this time of year much more enjoyable. We try to keep busy, which makes winters feel shorter. Sitting at home all the time really sucks, in any weather...so don't do it. This last weekend was probably my favorite weekend in the last 12 months, but weather was a non-factor.

EnjoyEP, you are right. My SoCal princess is having a really tough time here. Especially with the wind. To the OP, come visit WI right about now to get a feel for winter. It can get nasty if you aren't use to it or have a tough time adapting to it.

well i need to to put my two cents in well i lived in florida and i reside in wisconsin so i know what your getting into well in wisconsin you have a rude awakening it does get real cold here so thats one big thing the streets are horible in the winter heating bill through the roof also the high taxes. Its not all what it seems but i think you should reconsider this and think about it really good i myself im planning on moving back if your not an outdoor person that enjoys the cold you will get that cabin fever and basically everyone is crabby it gets real old quick trust me.

Brookfield is a good city-near Milwaukee for the amenities, far enough to avoid the crime!

Once you live near the ocean it is hard to live without it. It is unbearably cold in Mke in the winter.
