hi! I'm thinking of spending the summer in the city of waukesha, but i won't have a car. Is the city's bus system safe and widely used? Or will i likely meet a lot of colorful characters on the bus?

Also, is it safe to walk in the downtown area?

Thank you!

The city's bus system is perfectly safe and it's quality is typical of a town of 70,000 people. Downtown is very clean and nice and very safe you won't have any problem with any part of Waukesha. You can connect to Milwaukee's county transit system as well from Waukesha and there are freeway fliers that take you right downtown Milwaukee direct from Waukesha.

I'll agree with MC, Waukesha's Public Transportation is way above good considering the size of the city. There is a Bus terminal in town where all the busses depart from, including Wisconsin Coach Lines buses that go directly into Milwaukee. You can get there on the city bus after a transfer at Brookfield Square Mall. The city of Waukesha itself is very clean and is pleasant to visit. Waukesha also has one of the nicer Libraries I've been to.

The above link to The City of Waukesha is for Waukesha Metro. It's very useful for routes and schedules.
