When we visit Milwaukee we try and make a stop at The Comet Cafe. Love their mac n cheese.

There are a lot of great Mexican places on the south side that give a lot of bang for the buck. One of my favorites is Taquería El Cabrito-- you can get a huge bowl of goat stew for under $10, tacos with authentic fillings (carnitas, al pastor, lengua, tripa, etc.) for under $2.00 each, and other great things.

On 27th there are several Vietnamese places where you can get a great bowl of Pho for around $6, and a couple of the places have banh mi (Vietnamese subs) for less than $4. The banh mi counter at the Pacific Produce (Viet Hoa) supermarket on 27th sells inexpensive and great banh mi.

There are some good Indian places in town with entrees that don't break the bank, but one really good deal is Bombay Sweets on the south side. They sell all sorts of pakora, samosas, dosas, idli sambar, palak paneer, and other vegetarian dishes for around $5.

Mr Sebass, a Peruvian place near National and 35th, has many of the Peruvian classics (chaufa, ceviche, etc.) for less than $10 a plate.

St. Paul Fish Company in the Milwaukee Public Market has good food at good prices. Half-price blue points on Thursdays, inexpensive chowders and fish dishes, and daily specials such as lobster dinner for $13.

There are some great pizza places in town that provide good value. Maria's Pizza on Forest Home, for example, has excellent, thin-crust pizza for just a little over $10.

Mona's on Farwell has great shwarma, kebabs, and other Middle Eastern dishes in the $5-10 range. Great place. Shahrazad on Oakland has a good lunch buffet for around $8.

Ee Sane (on Farwell) and Singha Thai (in West Allis) are both good Thai places with entrees under $10.

Glorioso's on Brady has excellent sandwiches and a full Italian deli-- a filling meal there will cost less than $10.

Pueblo Foods, a Puerto Rican market on Holton, has a great deli. Get pernil, rice, and pigeon peas to go, and you'll pay around $6. A very good deal.

For more upscale food, Coquette Cafe is a great deal. Most of the entrees are less than $20 but are just as good as what you get at pricier French-style places in town. Coquette also has reasonably priced salads and sandwiches, and a good list of wines by the glass.

Triskele's on the south side has reasonably priced apps (around $5-8) and entrees (in the $10-15 range), and has various daily specials such as an AUCE mussels on (I think ) Tuesdays for around $10.

Comet Cafe (mentioned by another poster) and Honeypie both have good food at reasonable prices: entrees less than $12, etc. Honeypie sells pasties that cost, I think, around $6 or so. The pies are good, too.
