Let me be critical for a moment. The problem with going to Lake Michegan is that when you go there you arn't getting away from the city because of Lincoln Memorial Drive being so close. There is constant traffic noise and the busy feeling of being in the city because of the traffic. If they would have made a park out the highway then it would be perfect because all the way from the beach to the cliffs would be a quiet serene place where one would feel they were getting away from the city while still being in the city. Maybe this is being picky but I think that city planners really screwed up. Maybe there was a controversy over building Lincoln Drive right, I don't know but I am interested to know what year it was built. Anyone know?

I like it the way it is. Were in a major city, not up north. It works very well for everyone.

Milwaukee has a great lakefront, there are all different types of activities from the beach, restaurants, walking trails, docks, breakwater, museums, festivals, vistas of Downtown and the water, historical landmarks, and larger parks connected.

The area was never meant to simulate the wilderness by cutting it off from the city. The area is designed to give everyone access to the lakefront and everything along it.

If you want seclusion and wilderness, head up north. If you've ever really gotten away from the city, you'll know that parks are meant as a respite not a complete escape.

If you want more seclusion than the lake front provides, I would suggest a stroll through Lake Park, Estabrook Park, or down the Oak Leaf Trail. Or head up to Doctors Park in Fox Point.

The amount of sewage Milwaukee dumps into the lake is small compared to other places. Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland dump much more into the great lakes. St.Louis dumps far more into the Mississippi river than Milwaukee does into lake Michigan. Those cities will dump 30 or 40 times a year. Milwaukee maybe 2 or 3 at the very most. Before the deep tunnel project Milwaukee would dump around 25 times a year. Most of the dumping is street runoff from the combined sewers and not raw sewage. Most cities would die to have Milwaukee's deep tunnel. It has greatly improved things. People need to turn off Skyes and Belling and get the facts straight.

The only reason the dumping isn't an issue in other cities, is because no one knows about it and those other cities have done nothing to stop it.

Here, we try to clean up our system and largely succeed, but the same naysaying blowhards only know how to bring people down. They need to get a life or get their facts straight.

Yeah, Milwaukee is such a terrible place. Art, architecture, culture, cuisine, independent businesses, and uniquely creative people aren't desirable at all. Detective, clue thyself.
