Dayton and Emmer deadlocked in new MPR News/Humphrey Institute Poll | Minnesota Public Radio NewsQ

Quote:
Republican Tom Emmer and Democrat Mark Dayton are running are running even in the 2010 race for governor according to a new MPR News-Humphrey Institute Poll.
Among likely voters, Mark Dayton and Tom Emmer are even at 34 percent support each. Independence Party candidate Tom Horner received 13 percent support.
A fifth of likely voters are undecided. Defections of both Democrats and Republicans from their party’s candidates and splits among key voting groups also contribute to the tight race.

I may second this opinion. If Horner wins, although I am a Dem, at least I know he will be a lot more moderate. Emmer is just too far right for me, and I don't think MN can handle it.

Fromt he Artical:
"Divided Minnesota: The race for governor is exposing large divides within the state, particularly with respect to incomes. Likely voters making more than $50,000 per year are decidedly breaking for Emmer. Likely voters making less than $50,000 see a similar swing to Dayton.
A similar class divide appears among educational groups. Likely voters with at least college degree favored Emmer over Dayton, while likely voters with less than a college degree favored Dayton by a similar margin."

Translation:

Many people who make money and went to college paid their dues. They are sick of paying for people who don't contribute their fair-share. People who don't pay much in taxes are nervous their freebies are going away. That's because that "radical" Emmer promises to cut their benefits that families above $50K have been paying all along.

I'll bet 99% of the servers are making under $50K. Most servers are a part time so it goes without saying. But the average wage of a lot of servers in tips alone are very very good for a part time job. I'm not talking about Floe, I'm talking about your typical Applebee's type server in the right locations. Good servers are paid well on tips for their part time effort.

Since they are under $50K, they are voting for Dayton. Emmer won't be getting the server vote. It goes without saying.
