We're in our early 40's with a 5 year-old. We're young for our age but don't want to be surrounded by a bunch of 30 or 20 year olds. How "young" is SLP?

SLP is the 'in' place to live for the younger professionals however I think that the majority of the population is still older. I think you will find that you are one of the 'young' ones. I also think you will find that most of the 30 year olds will have kids the same age and you will find you have more in common with them then you think. You and I of similar age yet our kids are much older and I think you would find that doing things with our family would be much more difficult then doing things with the 30's set. We don't need babysitters, we can make plans at the drop of a hat because we don't need sitters, etc.

Default Thanks!

Yes, we are years away from no baby sitters. Most of our friends are in their 30's or early 40's with young kids. Your answer was very helpful.

SLP isn't too young or too old. We have an elderly relative there and when we go there (at least every week) we see all ages of people there. I think it's a ice mix (at least on the part near Highway 100 near our relative).

One of the reasons I like SLP is because it is one of the most diverse of the TC suburbs in terms of age, race, ethnic, religion, housing choices and class. In that regard, it is more like a small city than a typical TC suburb.
