Are there any less crowded restaurants that have decks/seating around a lake? I'm thinking some place that is chillax but has a nice view. For example if you could take the 318 Cafe and put it right on Lake Minnetonka. Some place like Maynards is a little too big and corporatized feeling for me. Doesn't have to be on Lake Minnetonka, just on a lake near the cities. A laid back atmosphere with a bit of hipness to it. (Such as Kafe 421 or 318 Cafe or the like but on a lake).

I haven't been to Kafe 421 or 318 Cafe, so I don't know the exact type of place that you are trying to find, but the other lakefront places that I can think of are.....

The deck behind Lord Fletcher's on Lake Minnetonka. $4 Half Pound Burgers and $1.75 beer on Mondays. $15 lobsters on Wednesdays. Bands a few nights per week. Beach volleyball.

Lola's Lakehouse on Lake Waconia which is less busy and "corporatized" than Maynards, but I am not sure if I would describe it as having "bit of hipness to it".

I'm not sure how crowded it gets, and it's on a river, not a lake.......but the new Psycho Suzie's has great river views and a hip vibe???

Great place by the way. However, if you are planning on going during peak hours Psycho Suzies is PACKED! They have an amazing deck overlooking the Mississippi river but plan on getting there early if you want a table on it.

I like the Tin Fish by Lake Calhoun. It's a pleasant place to stop after a jaunt around the lake.

The Sea Salt Eatery at Minnehaha falls is amazing. It gets a little crowded on the weekends, but the falls are right there and the hiking trails are pretty nice.

Tin Fish gets SUPER busy. I was there the other day and waited in line for 30-45 minutes. I really like Longfellow Grill in Minneapolis. They have a nice patio with a view of the Mississippi river, of course there's a street between the patio and the river. Sunsets in Wayzata is really nice but get a reservation. I think it's moderately affordable too.

It can get really busy. It depends on the day, though; we were there last week during the daytime and it was PACKED (despite being a weekday!), but my parents went there about a week ago during the evening and said it was pretty quiet. A nice weekend day or evening is probably going to involve a long wait, though. (although if not looking for food the ice cream/treats/drinks line seems to move really fast)
