We might we taking a job in st Paul. We recently were told about Hudson, WI. I have a 4 and 6 year old. How does the school sysytem compare to say that of Woodbury or lakeville? The prices for rentals in hudson seemed so much cheaper and we wanted a rural feel but I am worried about how their schools rank.

As an FYI- we need a 3 bd/ 2 bath home for $1600

Thank you!!!!

Hudson schools would rank lower than Woodbury and Lakeville schools but enough to not want to attend school there. Also, for whatever reason, Hudson schools have some pretty major discipline issues, much like you would find in an inner city school but on a smaller scale. I have a couple friends that have kids in Hudson and while they like the community as a whole, they aren't thrilled with the schools. They considered moving however the housing market prevented that from happening. No open enrollment option in Wisconsin so they are stuck there trying to make the best of it.

Not in MN, not sure about WI but I don't think there is there either. We looked at moving to Hudson a long time ago and it was pretty much a wash between lower income taxes in WI but higher property taxes there, car tabs, sales tax etc. Gas prices then were about $1/gallon so the commute wasn't an issue, today though, you would have to figure in that drive to your overall cost of living.

License plate renewals for your vehicles-they are stickers you put on your license plate, need to be renewed each year.
