I'm visiting Minneapolis on Monday (staying downtown)
Does anyone know of a decent bar that will be transmitting the derby soccer game of Manchester United v Manchester City?

TIA

Brit's Pub on Nicollet Mall just south of 11th St. is likely to be showing the game. Just look for the bar flying the Union Jack.

Or just a few blocks north of Brit's there is an Irish pub called The Local which will be showing the match as well.

Thanks , the Local seems the nearest to where I'm staying (marriot city center) Question is can I get from the airport to hotel, check bags and hit The Local? in time for kick off ( only got half hour!!)

Thanks for the replies

I think 30 minutes from plane to bar stool is unlikely, but it will not take you much longer. Leave the terminal thru the baggage claim level. Take the escalator down and head thru the underground walkway area, all the way to the back. Follow the signs to the light rail. (Transit center.) Catch the train headed downtown, and get off at the Nicollet Mall stop. That should take about 20 minutes. Here is a schedule and route map for the light rail.

http://metrotransit.org/Data/Sites/1/media/pdfs/Schedules/RouteMaps/16/055Map.pdf (broken link)

You'll now be on 5th St. Turn left, go two blocks, and turn right on 7th St. Half a block down is your hotel, on the right. After you drop your bags, go back to Nicollet Mall, turn right, and go three blocks to the Local on your left, or four blocks to Brits on your right.

If your plane comes in on concourse A, B, C or G at a gate that's farther away from the terminal, you can save some time by going to the cross concorse bridge, and then taking the elevator down to the light rail from there. This map should help.

Enjoy the game.
