Hello again,

When contacting companies, are your responses generally professional? Where I live now, 7/10 responses from a company will be rude or unprofessional with spelling and grammatical errors - if by email, there is often no header, introduction or formal ending. Is professionalism in your area taken seriously?

Also what about expectations from the public? Do people demand more than mediocre? Food, services performed, condition of the city and their homes, etc?

Thanks!

It is, of course, hard to generalize an entire area and say we will all be more or less professional.

That said, while speaking with the bias of a "hometown boy", I would guess there is more professionalism from companies in the area. I would argue that, with Minnesota being home to around 20 Fortune 500 companies and some of the largest privately held companies (i.e. Cargill and Carlson Companies), that would contribute to a culture of more professionalism.

I think there is also an expectation of higher educational standards in Minnesota. If you follow the MN or Minneapolis/St.Paul Forums on this site, you will see when the regulars here start debating/arguing over educational standards of what is "good" or "bad" between school districts it is only relative to the local options. When compared to other states, generally all of our schools trend higher. This would also seem to contribute to more professionalism, at least IMHO.
