Hello good people of Minnesota,

I will be paying a visit to Minneapolis shortly to take advantage of zero sales tax on clothing

Where can I find higher-end stores like Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdales, etc?

Looks like the MOA doesn't have much of a selection when it comes to such retailers...

MOA has a Nordstrom, but if you are looking for a high density of luxury retailers you need to head to the Galleria in Edina.

Saks, neimann, and Bloomingdale's all left the state because we didn't have a market for them. Moa and ridgedale have a Nordstrom. Also, with MOAs recent renovations, they got a lot more upscale. I want to give you a creative answer, but this is still your best bet. But yes, I'll also second the galleria

Ridgedale is going high end boutique dominated.

Thanks everyone!

I'll check out these places.

I'm tired of the low quality clothes that Macys and the likes sell, falls apart after one wash. Figured I'd rather buy less stuff but better quality

Your best bet is to shop online. You still get the tax break.

Nobody buys luxury brands here aside from Patagucci parkas. Thus Saks and even Bloomingdales cannot stay in business.

There's no point in lux brands here. Where would one go to be seen in Louboutin mules? Sneaky Petes?

Half the year our clothes are covered by parkas, thus no need for premium labels.

We probably spend more on our boots and coats than the average American, however.

^This. I see plenty of Canada Goose parkas and Sorel boots; but I often joke that people could be wearing anything (or nothing, eek!) underneath-- and no one would be the wiser. MSP just isn't a status conscious place, so there's not a ton of uber high end stores here.

As mentioned, check out the mall in Edina-- and Von Maur (which is in the Eden Prairie Mall). But if you're looking for Fifth Avenue-level, high end shopping, you'll be surely disappointed.

The MOA does have a nice Nordstrom, most everything else there is mid market chain clothing. I have not been to Ridgedale since they did the big upgrade but if I was looking for better clothing brands I would go there rather than MOA. As others mentioned Ridgedale does have a Nordstrom. Is it as big as the MOA location?

Galleria does have a long list of luxury brands and some better brands. BTW if you are traveling to Mpls to shop and need a hotel the Westin that is connected to Galleria is currently heavily discounting rooms because they are remodeling the restaurant in the lobby. I think my room rate was $117 before tax. Having the parking ramp and Galleria accessible without having to go outside is very nice. :-)

Canada Goose or Moncler down coat and a pair of Sorel boots seem to be the MN winter status symbols :-)
