Hello,

I am moving into a new (to me) rental in a week and will need to get internet and possibly cable. Cable is not necessary, but there are a few channels that I'd like to have that are not basic cable. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone knows what rates normally jump to after 6 months with non-term agreements. I've talked with some reps but they're not very helpful to me because they think I want help picking my cable and/or internet package. I know what internet speed I want and which cable option I would want. All of the options I've seen on both Comcast and CenturyLink/DirecTV offer the low $29.99/month rate for the first 6 months to new customers. However, none of them say what the rates are after 6 months. Of course $29.99/month sounds great, but not if it jumps to $70/month after 6 months. Does anyone know what the rates are after 6 months? I'm sure I could eventually get it out of the customer reps, but I think experienced customers are often more knowledgeable than the reps themselves. I'd also be interested in other cable/internet options. I'll be moving to the White Bear Lake area.

I did a little more digging and have found the rates after 6 months for at least Comcast.

Thanks.

My low end HD cable from Comcast is $77 a month all in. I'm thinking of calling and canceling because I don't think it's worth it.

We pay $104 a month for basic cable and wired internet through Comcast in Chaska. $10 of that is the fee for our digital box so we can have HD. We have all of the basic channels, plus some extras like H2 and Palladia (love), but no HBO or Showtime type channels. I really don't think it's worth $104 a month, but I keep paying it for whatever reason. We also have a few problems with Comcast . . .
-The cable just randomly goes out sometimes (black screen). It's usually back after an hour or so. The internet will still work during this time, though.
-Sometimes the screen randomly turns blue and says "Not Authorized." That happens a few times a week and lasts about 10 minutes each time but it sucks when you're in the middle of something you really wanted to watch.
-Their billing schedule is somehow all screwed up so they end up sending a second bill before you had a chance to pay the first and it's led to a lot of confusion. I've had to call them several time demanding to know why my bill is so high and they tell me it's for both months, even though I'm not past due. What? It's crazy.
