Yeh, this is closer to "normal" than some recent years. Don't benchmark from last year. And if it REALLY irks you, there's a good possibility you should live elsewhere.

So if you want an outdoor lifestyle with golf and tennis and picnics in the Spring you should not live in Minnesota?

You should still have some spring time to do those things, Summer doesn't start until June 21st so you still have over 2 months left of spring. Hope it warms up soon!

I'd say that Minnesota is going to limit you on this more than Florida or Arizona or California. Truth is the jetstream has drooped so far south this year, there are a lot of other states that are enjoying "Minnesota spring" too. This spring is extremely abnormal for them. Not so extremely abnormal for here.

That being said, our heating degree days have just surpassed normal. Not by a whole lot, but it makes it officially a cold spring.

That's right. Well, you should be able to get all of that sometime in May, but I wouldn't count on it in April. If you want a really nice spring you're in the wrong state.

Seeing as how the average high for right now is about 58, we should always see some 60's in April. We may set a new record this year for latest day to hit 60 degrees.

He**, if we could hit 50 and sunny right now people would be 'dancing in the streets'!

Heating degree days define what is "cold". It only just now passed the norm. From here on out, maybe we can talk a cold spring. But, still, cold springs help define the average. Last spring was a warm one. Somewhere you have to have a cold one.

I've always found winter to be colder than spring around here.

In a typical spring most MN golf courses are open by April 1st, often by the end of March. This year, however, who knows. Several courses in the metro actually opened before this latest snowfall and some rounds were played, but none are really "open" now. I agree, though, the OP needs to move.

UPDATE: While there is more snow forecast later this week, they say there could be a major warm up in early May, and it could hit sixty.
