My husband and I are being relocated by his company to the Minneapolis area this fall/winter. We realize this may not be the best time of the year to make a move but have little control over that. Our oldest daughter is 19 but is special needs and we need to find a good environment/programs for her within a welcoming community.

We are kind of lost on what towns and neighborhoods of Minneapolis to search for housing in. We are not opposed to living in the city and we are just as happy in a rural area. We kind of go with the flow except if it is a loud, youthful area. I'm in my early forties and had enough of that kind of fun when I was younger. We enjoy artistic areas, where theater and the arts are staples. We enjoy being close (even with having to drive to) to parks, outdoor spaces, diverse restaurants, and concert venues.

Quiet and safe is a given but we also like community based areas. We also have two rescue beagles that must make the move with us.

We are looking for at least 3 bedrooms, possibly 2 bathrooms, in the range of $1000- $1300.

Can anyone tell me if this is doable or am I wishing for too much? Thank you for any input you could give me.

What area of Minneapolis will your husband be working in? Downtown, north, south, east or west? Just wondering how long of a commute he is willing to make to work.

Does your daughter need to be near any special medical services?

Then we could pick out some suggestions.
