If have a family--wife, couple kids, and make 40K there is a very good chance you will be paying little to nothing for your plan. If you only have to pay $350/month for a family plan, well, quit your belly aching, that is a STEAL....

Golfgal I'm single and take care of myself and I pay child support in addition to seeing my kid on the regular. I won't be able to see her on the weekends now because I have to get another job.

People making up to $45k/year will qualify for tax credits. Or you could opt for the fine. No second job needed.

Golfgal, we disagree on many things on this board. But you stole the words from my mouth when it comes to this topic.

MNSure is a horrible creation and will cause a lot of suffering for people who can't afford it. This whole Obamacare healthcare plan is a crock; forcing every person in the U.S. to have health insurance or pay a huge fine? Take away choice from people by forcing them to choose 1 of 3 ridiculously expensive plans? Horrible, horrible idea. I have a temp job, not a full time job yet. MN Care wanted me to pay $81 a month for their MN Care plan based on my temp job income. I can't afford that so I had to deny it. Luckily my specialist doctor wrote me a yearlong prescription of a medicine that I need to take and I can afford to pay for it out pocket. I'm fine with paying the fine to avoid being forced into MNSure which is a huge pyramid scheme for the health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies. Doctors won't even benefit from MNSure. I saw the news report and looked at the MNSure website that insists a 25 year old single person will have to pay around $200 a month for a bronze plan. WTH!

Really, $81/month...these premiums were just released today--you got quotes already, wow. It's sliding scale, some people will get the plans for free. What did you do before? How did you pay for your health insurance then?

BTW--there is no such thing as an "Obamacare Health Plan".

No, MN Care wanted me to pay $81 a month...not under MNSure.

And the rates for MNSure are already on their website.

Why are people getting insurance for free?

Absolutely. Most of my coworkers in my current position are European, Canadian, or Australian , and they don't understand why we do things the way we do in the US at all with regard to health care.
