My husband and I live in Grand Forks, ND. Havr lived here for 3 yrs together and now have a 1 yr old. This city is extremely high priced for housing, gas prices and crime and meth top the charts. My husband is a musician amd performs with heavy metal (hardcore/deathcore/beatdown/metalcore/gent) bands. We want to move around St. Cloud or as close to Minneapolis as we can. We are looking for a thriving music scene and apartments that are not 650 for a 800 sq. foot 2 bedroom apartment. Please help!!

If you thik $650 is expensive stay with StCloud and dont bother with the Twin Cities. I just moved to New Hope from St Cloud and Pay $930 for a 2 bedroom andin st cloud We paid $790 for a 3 bedroom. And the apartment We had in St Cloud was quite a bit nicer then my current one in New Hope. If yo look in places like Maple Grove or Eden Prairie theyll be quite a bit more expensive.

To me though its totally worth it to pay extra to live in the cities. I personally Cant stand st cloud.

Juke - If you want to be close to the music scene in the twin cities you will likely have to increase your budget. My experience has been that housing in the twin cities is higher than I anticipated. If it is an option, consider looking at a duplex or sharing a 3 bedroom. You may be able to find inyour range in St. Cloud - but you indicated you wanted to be closer to the cities - if you are looking in St. Cloud - I would suggest moving this out of the Minneapolis/St Paul forum to the MInnesota forum

I agree, $650 is not happening in MSP or St. Cloud for that matter for a large 2 bedroom apartment.

$650 is definitely doable in St. Cloud for a 2 bedroom.

But if you think $650 is a lot, you will be in for a shock. My older sister was paying well over $600 before her and I moved in together down here in New Hope. We looked at places in Brooklyn Park that were over $800 and couldn't believe how bad they were. We had to go over $900 to get something that wasn't a dump in an undesirable location.

And I had a cousin that lived in a one bedroom apartment in Richfield I think it was $620 a few years ago.
