Govie, can you clarify what you are referring to?

Dogs work well. After doing research for our own house, alarm systems are not that expensive....it depends on what you want.

I don't live in Payne Phalen but I do reside in Dayton's Bluff and I frequent your neighborhood quite often. Actually, I live on fourth street which three blocks from that Mississippi Market and very close to your neighborhood. I have had nothing but positive experiences on the eastside and I really love the area. I heard many bad things prior to moving here but my first hand experience showed me different. I love my neighbors and the overall feel of the neighborhood. Sure, there are a few sketchy blocks/areas, but for the most part its a great neighborhood. To top if off, I have neighbors that are black(I am myself), white, Hmong, and Mexican and we all get along pretty well. The people are very friendly also. Coming from Chicago, most of the twin cities feel safe in general. Parts of northside of Minneapolis are the only areas in general that give me the uneasy feeling I got in sketchy Chicago neighborhoods.

Thanks for reading! I also really like the Dayton's Bluff area. I have been going to the new Mississippi Coop and frequent Swede Hollow Cafe. Again, it's nice to hear from people that actually live in the area!

We are moving to the neighborhood, and this made me feel tons better. Like you I found a home my partner and I fell for. But as a gay couple people told us to stay away. This really did help. Thank you.

My family has been in the Payne-Phalen area of the Eastside for over 3 generations. I couldn't escape fast enough after having a child in the public school system. I'm ashamed of my previous east side pride. The place is disgusting now - not even a remnant of what it once was.

I live in the outer suburbs but have friends and family in that area and the east side in general. Somehow I always end up at Phalen lake. It's such a family friendly place to go for a walk and the renovations are great. Love playing volleyball/soccer and there is a beautiful China Garden Pavilion that fits that area so perfectly! I have done BBQ there and had parties.

I think the area is tough and has its problems but if more good families stay or more move in, the neighborhood can improve. I see a lot of nice families moving in now. Some of the houses are really pretty up near Metro State
