Hi,

I am moving to Minneapolis by end of October. I am looking for an apartment/community with more Indian population in Minneapolis. Please suggest me a good apartment to move in, which must also be accessible to MN downtown by Public transport. Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks
Chandra

The East Indian population in the Twin Cities seems to be mostly located in the South & West suburbs. Try visiting Shakopee, Minnetonka, or Eden Prairie. These are not close to DT Mpls, but you may find people to carpool with & there are many express bus options.

When we lived in Edina Towers (a hi-rise in Edina off of Hwy. 62 with access to an express bus route to DT Mpls) there was a healthy Indian population in the building. I know that's true with many/most apartments in and around the France Ave. area in southern Edina.

I would also inquire at Indian-specific forums (fora?). Stop by the local Indian restaurants (I am aware of those in Maplewood, Roseville, Eagan, Burnsville and St. Louis Park.)

I remember a few years ago there was a significant Indian community in Woodbury. A street in a new development in Shakopee (169/Cty 21) seems to have a lot of Indian people when I visit friends there.

Yep, that entire area including Cedars of Edina on Gallagher as well as all those buildings along Parklawn. These are all a block or two from a major express line and walking distance to all kinds of shopping and dining, parks, elementary school, etc.

I would simply suggest not looking for any one type of people or culture, and instead try to integrate yourself and become an American!

Just look for a nice area, you will find good people that you can relate with and become friends with.
