You won't find many upscale houses in the 700k range but Mounds View and the northern part of new brighton meet that criteria. Mounds view is one of the best school districts in the state, but the cities of new brighton and mounds view both have few amenities (terrible shopping, etc)

Lake Elmo sounds like something you'd like.

One of my best friends from college grew up there. I admit, as a Minnetonka native, that I still don't even know where it is. Northeast?

Minnetonka has large lots; a half acre is common. There are lots of trees like many other suburbs. School districts serving Minnetonka include Hopkins, Minnetonka and Wayzata - all good districts.

I love Mahtomedi, WBL, North Oaks and Shoreview but there are NO AMENITIES. Where do people even go grocery shopping? And Rosedale? Not so much.
That said, this area is BEAUTIFUL.
I totally get Afton -- it has gorgeous land and a few (as in 1-3) really cute shops and feels upscale plus Woodbury strip mall chain shopping is just about 10-15 minutes away. Woodbury has much nicer shopping than Mahtomedi and North Oaks so that's a big + for Afton. North Oaks is more of an exclusive suburb and Afton is a river town.
Seriously, throw a rock in Twin Cities and you will hit gorgeous tress, pretty suburb, clean beautiful lakes, nice parks, and good schools. CRAZY.

Also look at Dellwood, I think it's minimum 5 acre lots in Dellwood.

Places like Cub, Kowalski's, Festival, Aldi, Fresh&Natural, Trader Joe's, etc. Some likely also use stores with groceries and other things: Walmart, Target, Sam's Club, Costco.

Is there somewhere else that people go grocery shopping in other parts of the metro? I would have thought a grocery store was the obvious answer.
