Money Magazine just published their latest rankings of "Best Places To Live 2016" rankings in the October, 2016 issue of Money Magazine. In their small cities category (Population between50,000-300,000), Eden Prairie was ranked 2nd best and Woodbury was ranked 11th best.

Eden Prairie #2 and Woodbury #11 were the only two Minnesota cities in the top 50. Other top 10 cities included: Columbia,MD #1; Plano, TX #3; West Des Moines, IA #4; Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ #5; Highlands Ranch, CO #6; Clarkstown, NY #7; Weston, FL #8; Beaverton, OR #9; Naperville, IL #10.

In the Best Big City Category (Metro Area's with a population of 300,000 or greater) no Minnesota city/metro area made their list of 10. of course Minneapolis and St. Paul are the only two who would fall into this category.

Surprised Rochester did not make it into the top 50 on that list. Livability ranks it as their top city.
http://www.livability.com/best-place...s-to-live/2016. Not surprised to find two Twin Cities suburbs on that list. Money magazine lists in recent years usually include at least one or two of them.

Well, how can you go wrong with a town named 'Eden Prairie', with streets named 'Pleasantview Road' ?

In all seriousness, good to see Eden Prairie has maintained its good QOL standards.

Woodbury is not too shabby either, from what I remember.

It's basically just Eden Prairie of the East Metro.

Kind of disappointing though as Eagan and Plymouth used to make this list I believe.

Yes, I believe Plymouth was #1 one year, with a cover photo of a family engaging in local outdoor recreation.

Or was Plymouth voted for a small- type locale then, and not 50,000-300, 000 as this survey was? Not a local, so I'm not sure about their population

There's about 7-10 burbs that are relatively interchangeable here. Maple Grove, Plymouth, Minnetonka, EP, Eagan, Lakeville, Woodbury...

It's large enough. Currently the 7th largest city in Minnesota at 72,000. 5,000 more than Woodbury and 10,000 more than Eden Prairie.

Eden Prairie has many differences than Woodbury. Woodbury on the east side is on a flatter plain so the main roads are on a grid pattern. Eden Prairie is on hillier land and several of the lots are very wooded. Woodbury has space to grow and many of the developments are newer there, especially on the eastern side. Eden Prairie is more land locked.
