I don't know about current demand, but you should check with all the major hospitals in MPLS/St. Paul. If you have any experience I am sure you can get on. IMO it is one of, if not the best 'bangs for your buck' in nursing as far as pay and cost of living goes (my wife is a RN in St. Paul).

If you don't have experience, you will most likely need a B.A. (my wife has an A.A. but came here 13 years ago with 2 years experience).

There is plenty of diversity in healthcare here and most likely in Rochester too. You will actually find that companies here strive for more diversity as we are a rather white metro.

Many/most of the metro hospitals are union, but not all.

Piece of cake huh?.....OK

No experience but will have a masters. Health care is big up there. TIMTHEGUY, I take it that you live in the city and not in the boonies like the rest of these guys. If so, tell me how do you see race relations. This lady told two me days its getting bad up there.

I value the opinions of boonites but if you live there and see the people there daily. What do you notice, feel, etc.

I am born and raised MN, so cold weather doesn't phase me all that much. I ice skate/play hockey, snowmobile, ice fish, ski, etc. When it is -20 I usually abstain from all of that, but it is only that cold a couple of times/winter if at all. The last two winters were very mild for MN.

Masters degree....they LOVE higher end degrees and all the initials and titles in health care. I would say a Masters in Nursing would get you hired on at any hospital here.

Race relations are very good in our metro. BLM has definitely set that back a ways, but still good imo. Especially in the professional sector. I actually live in right on the outer edge of suburbia about 20-30 minutes to the core of St. Paul.

Glad you refrain in -20 don't want to be too manly. The temps over there are similar to Jersey sans -21 out of no ****ing where.

My professor said that MN pretty white and St Paul is nostalgic. She also said because manufacturing jobs have dissipated many people there are angry at minorities, millennials, etc. She said something else that was cute but it was the last day of class for the semester so I had already bailed mentally.

I hope BLM doesn't mess it up for me, lol

All the way until after college then she booked for NY. She still has family there, why do you ask?

MN has had a very strong and diverse economy for a long long time. We are not dependent on manufacturing and someone is blowing "being mad at minorities, millennials, etc." way out of proportion.

Market for RN's. Fairly good... depending on what specialty and location you're looking at. If you are open to location, you have the market in your hands. There are a lot of union hospitals... I'd do research before committing to a hospital with a union (not saying it's negative or positive- just know what you are getting into). Look up Allina strike and you'll see what I mean. As far as race.... in the twin cities there are RN's of all different races and nationalities.
