What does this have to do with Mpls/ St Paul? Take this over to the P&C forum.

The question is if they can simply vote to defund and abolish agencies we depend on, it’s a two way street. They certainly do not fund welfare and education themselves.

They can’t simply vote to defund MPD.

Other than that, though, spot on post.

Start by defunding the City Council. They've got to be a pack of idiots anyway.

At this juncture in time it looks like the citizens of MPLS would have a massive voter turnout to abolish the MPD and they would probably have a parade and riot afterwards to celebrate.

If you're going to defund any part of the police department, start with the Vice Squad. Good riddance!
Secondly, do away with the Quota system, which the police will denied that it exists. Let them be Peace officers only! And stop arresting people for drug usage!

In our community, the drug problem (mostly meth) is responsible for 80-90% of all crimes. Druggies here commonly don't work, and they just ride around all day trying to find anything in driveways or carports they can steal and pawn/sell for drug money. Our jail is 150% of capacity, and inmates told me (last time I was in there) that 90% of them are there for drug related charges.

The judges are too lenient on them. The druggies will sit in our jail 3 months and the courts turn them loose. Then they are back in jail within weeks for another 3 months. They commonly have a child or two out of wedlock they don't take care of either.

We were victims too many times (burglaries and thefts) and finally picked up and moved 65 miles away.
