I am okay with the sentence, but $27 mil is a LOOOOOOOOOT of money for a career criminal who was lost on the street after being drug high....

Most brave worthy US soldiers' killed while defending the country receive a tinnnnnnnnnny fraction of what Floyd received. This sends a wrong message that will activate those wannabe Floyds in your RICH city......

JUST IN: Derek Chauvin sentenced to 22 1/2 years in prison in the murder of George Floyd

Former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22 and a half years in prison in the 2020 murder of George Floyd.
Prosecutors had asked for a 30 year sentence, and Chauvin’s attorney asked for probation and time served. Chauvin was convicted in April of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
Technically, Chauvin faced up to 40 years in prison for second-degree murder, up to 25 years for third-degree murder and up to 10 years for manslaughter.
However, Chauvin has no prior criminal record. State guidelines say that for such a person, the presumptive sentence for both second-degree and third-degree murder is 12 1/2 years. The judge was given discretion to hand down a sentence between 10 years and eight months and 15 years for each.

I believe that he has to face some “Federal” charges in addition to the 22 year sentence.

Very good. Justice has been served, although he could have used a longer sentence. Heck, he may not even make it out of prison alive.

Anyone who begs to differ must enjoy seeing unarmed civilians get choked to death. Regardless of your political affiliation, race, or creed, you'd have to be heartless to go to extraordinary lengths to justify Chauvin's actions. Bringing up Floyd's prison record is really a flawed argument given the circumstances of the incident. RIP George Floyd, and prayers for his family. Thankfully, the Minneapolis City Council gave his family a well-deserved settlement.

While I agree that the sentence was just and bringing up his past criminal record is irrelevant, I take great issue with this statement:

"Anyone who begs to differ must enjoy seeing unarmed civilians get choked to death."

This isnt a black or white situation. Some thought it was too much and some thought he should have been more severely punished. There is a lot of grey area here and if there is a dialogue to be had, we cant have the attitude of "agree with me or **** you".
