Hi,

I am relocating to Twin Cities [Mod cut: OP request], but my Kid's school is at Golden Valley. Any suggestions on apartments and houses? Thanks a lot!

For short term, we would like to find a safe apartment near Golden Valley.

In a year, we plan to find a house [Mod cut: OP request] that is convenient for school and work. Thanks.

Many are torn down and rebuilt. The western parts of there are newer. A friend of mine who played 13 yrs in NHL tore down two homes to build the two places he lived at. Then Zach Parise bought his last one. Almost the entire Wild team lives in Edina, they have the best youth hockey program in the country.

If it was me I’d probably look in Edina as well. If you’re insistent on looking in areas with newer construction you could look in suburbs like Plymouth, Maple Grove, Eden Prairie, Savage, Prior Lake or Rosemount. None would be as convenient as Edina though based on your school and work locations.

Edina, St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Golden Valley, SW Minneapolis. At your price point you'll find new homes, older homes that have been completely redone, and some that haven't. I live in SW Mpls and kids went to school in Golden Valley. I'd recommend living closer to school and do more driving for work

I like Edina Realty's search features. You can also set-up a search that will email you when something of interest becomes available

Minnetonka is nice too but could be more of a drive than you'd like.

Are your already enrolled at the Golden Valley school or is there some flexibility there? There are lots of great schools in the Twin Cities that would be more convenient to your job location and provide housing options that may suit your desires better

It suspect your child goes to Breck, private school, since you are not concerned about school district you are in. There are some newer apartment buildings at the intersection of highway 55 and 100 on the northeast of that intersection, if you want to live closer to the school. There are plenty of homes that are older but updated off of highway 100 and 50th. I happened upon a neighborhood off of Excelsior, on the South side that the golf course, west from Methodist hospital. The homes right on Excelsior not so great but a block over some really nice, updated homes. A very area is around the lakes like Calhoun...or rather Mde- de.. whatever the new name is...all around the city of lakes , very desirable if that's your thing., But some may be beyond your budget, you need to look around. Even some areas of Golden Valley.
