How'd everyone's election experience go? I know I stood in line for an hour starting at a quarter to 7 this morning. Didn't see a lot of 20 somethings but our neighborhood (Nokomis area) skews a bit older. I had to fill out my ballot at a table with a lot of other people ... just too many to use the booths that were out.

All in all a very positive experience, and the poll workers were thoughtful enough to put out folding chairs along the hallway so people could get off their feet.

Stood in line for about 5 minutes in a western suburb at about 7:45am. About 1/3 at that point were new registrations according to a worker there.

I had a great experience. This was my first time voting cause I didn't get to vote when Bush and Gore ran for president (I was 17 at the time). I went about 3:00pm and there were no lines. Yes, there were people in the voting booths and a couple of them were open. So I slid in a booth and did my voting. I honestly felt like a bigger person just because I felt good of who I voted for.. and I am NOT saying who I voted for cause I don't talk politics. But all in all.. this was a great experience for me!

I moved and had to get registered again. No line at 4:30 and I was #2644. They even had coffee and cookies. Guess that is how they do it in Mahtomedi. Nice.

We drove by our polling place this morning, line was about 2 blocks long. I went back this afternoon, walked right in. Hubby just got back, didn't wait at all. He said he was #617 to vote today, there were 700 registered voters in our precinct going into today. They have been registering people all day they said. I am very curious to see what the national and state turnouts are today.

I showed up at Corcoran Park at about 7:55 and the line was going out of the door of the building, by the time I voted it was out to the street. I was #75 to vote. I was prepared for a big turnout and wasn't disappointed. The lady running it was going nuts because I guess the turnout was by far the biggest she had seen in the 12 or so years she had been running it.

We took our ill neighbor at about 9:30 AM as my son told me he'd just voted and there weren't any lines at that point. We were told there were lines at the beginning of the day (as usual) because of the number of people who vote before work; and they would expect a rush starting about 4:30- 5PM. My daughter voted at 5:30 and had a 30 minute wait; she said that when she left the line went all the way around the corner of the building.

Slig, the "lady running it" was an election judge; I've served as one on the past and will do it again in the future. To be an election judge in MN you need to take a class (4-6 hours long I think; I can't remember right now!); and you need to take a 2 to 2 1/2 hour refresher class each time. I couldn't do it this year but found that it is a terrific experience. The day is very long; but to see how we run elections and watch democracy in action was very encouraging to me.

It was my first time too and I loved it. I went around 11:00 am and could get done with the entire process in about 5-10 minutes. Very encouraging experience!

I love election day...it's the end of the crazy campaigns (and their ads) and really feels like the finish-line at the end of a heated race. I am such a nerd...I love the map and hearing all the political predictions and the excitement in the anchors' voices when they announce who won in which states...lol. It's just exciting to see everyone come together with the same purpose (despite who you cast your ballot for). And naturally this election was even more enticing for a multitude of reasons.

As for the experience...I was voter 570 in my precinct. I took my 2 year old with while my 6 year old was at school...I think we got there around quarter to 11am and had come prepared with toys and snacks but we left just before 11:30am. And I had to register. So that seemed impressive to me considering the talk about hours-long waits. Later that afternoon, just after 3:15pm, we made a stop back over there so my husband could vote and including registration it took him less than half an hour.

I got throughunbelieveably easily, even got a story about Daley Sr. from a former Chgo. resident.
Anyways, I am always glad to have a physical ballot that I can mark with a pen. Good Minn. politics at work.
