First off, thanks for any replies I can get from you!

I am newly pregnant with my second child and I'm trying to decide where I want to go for the birth, due in July. My first was born vaginally with medications (but a normal pregnancy and delivery) at North Memorial (a few blocks from my home), but I was not happy with the care I received there. I'm looking for a natural waterbirth with a CNM and possibly a doula. I know of HCMC and St. Joseph's that are close enough to me, but I don't know which I want. I'd really love to find a midwife that will be there for me throughout the pregnancy and the birth, but both locations are on-call rotation with their midwives and if I have to do this, I will but would prefer not to. What I'd really like to know is if anyone has good or bad experience with either hospital or staff and if you have any experience with waterbirth at either location how that went and how many tubs are available.

Please share any stories that you think might help! Thanks again!!!

As a young male I can tell you very little about pregnancy and birth. However, I was born at North Memorial and I turned out fine

Check out Mountain Midwifery Birthing Center in Englewood. They are awesome and have everything it sounds like you're looking for. I was a patient of theirs and unfortunately had to transfer to Swedish Hospital (Swedish was very good to me though) so I didn't get the water birth I had wanted. They have four midwives, doula support and really good classes to get you prepared for natural child birth. They are one block away from Swedish also in case you have any complications that they can't handle. Take a look at their website- you can tour the facility to see if it's right for you! Good luck!
