Gatorinmn - I graduated from UF in '92, my husband in '90. All of our siblings are Gators as well. My husband dreams of all our kids being Gators. Not sure how that is going to work for us living in MN now!

I would agree with this, how how many miles wide is Bloomington? I am thinking it must be at least 20 miles from the far end of east Bloomington to the far end of west Bloomington. Maybe even 30 miles.

It's more like 13 miles or so from the lower SW corner to the upper NE corner.

You've heard from others about climate, tires, etc.... I live in Edina - next door to W Bloomington. Edina is a wonderful burb - top schools, very little crime. E. Edina has many homes in your price range (depending when you plan to move - mine included.)

You're 20 min. to the airport, 20 min. to the Mall of America, 15-20 min. to downtown. 5-10 min. to the Chain of Lakes (Lk Harriet, Lk Calhoun etc...)

You'd love it here. Funny - I'm considering moving to the Knoxville area (retirement). I'm looking at other areas as well.

about snow tires. If you spend the money and get good ones in the winter they make a big difference I actually have to try hard to spin-out or slide when I put on the breaks.

We moved to Minneapolis in August of '08 and love it (came from California). You also won't need snow tires- regular, all-season tires will work just fine. Driving in the snow is no big deal - just drive slower and leave more space between your car and the one in front of you. Simple as that. Great schools, affordable cost of living, clean air, PLENTY of trees and lakes - what more could I ask for?
