You get what you pay for. MPLS is a tad bit more expensive than your run of the mill midwest town, but more affordable than most major cities across the USA.

Good point, and your're right...with C.O.L it's pretty much all realitive...My same job position in Southern Cal pays almost $3 more an hour. That increase in pay hardly offsets the increase in living expenses.

^But, but, but......what about the ocean??? JK (obviously), this is what I don't understand about coastal cost of living -- why people on the coast pay a 50%-100% premium just to be near the ocean, which many people never even see twice a year. I'm sure that's an overgeneralization but I still don't get it.

I think it's more the climate than the ocean, at least with the west coast.
