My dad is coming to visit and I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend the best park areas to visit outside of the city within 2 hours drive or less? We were planning to go north, past Duluth to the splitrock lighthouse, but it's too far (my dad can't drive too fast because he's got a trailer hitched to his car).

Thanks in advance!

You could try the Lake Minnetonka area in the western suburbs. It's only about 30 minutes from downtown Minneapolis, and there's plenty of fishing, boating, and walking/hiking activities in the area.

Even Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis is worth visiting, I think, and it's inside the city. I love the area by the falls...
