I currently live in Minnesota and am thinking about relocating to Rochester from Willmar eventually. I'll be making a trip down there this summer to try and get a better feel of the city (been there once but it was many years ago) and was wondering what areas I should take a look at? I have a visitor's guide and will be checking out some of the main places, but I really want to get a feel for the place, and I figured people that lived there could tell me where abouts to do that.

I'm in my late 20's, will actually be 30 about the time I'm ready to move, am single with no kids, so I am not interested in buying a house or worried about school districts, etc., either.

Any good places or a must see to check out?

Are you looking into areas where you would want to find an apartment? Most areas are probably fine. There are areas that are congested with apartment complexes, and you may find trouble in those areas.

Check out Rochester911.com | Crime & Fire Incident Maps and Reports for Rochester, MN and Surrounding Communities. The more congested apartment areas are behind RCTC (8-1/2 St. SE and like 19th/20th Ave area, 41st St. NW and along Marion and 17th St. SE).

A good time to come would be during Rochesterfest if you would like to come during a time when there are activities going on. That starts like the Friday of Father's Day weekend and goes through the following weekend.

Please feel free to send me a private message as well.

Thanks for getting back to me so soon. When I am down there, I will be checking out apartments, my only other option might be to rent a house. Thanks for the info and the link. I've been looking at apartments online, and I can use the link to check the places out.

Coming during Rochesterfest might be a good idea. I'll definitely be looking into it.

Thanks again!

No problem. If you have questions about specific complexes, feel free to ask and I'll answer the best I can. If you are interested in renting a house, check out Infinity Real Estate & Management Group We rented a house through him, and he's a great guy to work with. I know I've mentioned him before, but I don't work for him or anything in case anyone wonders. I just liked his honesty and his personality, as he is really funny.

If you do come during Rochesterfest, check out Rochesterfest | Celebrating the City of Rochester, MN Not much info it doesn't look like yet for 2011, but it'll start coming soon enough. Lots of activities going on.
