It's a racket. A pure 100% legal racket by the government to create revenue.

Same goes for DUI enforcement. MN is so darn strict in patrolling DUIs but make the penalty a slap on the wrist in the tune of about $2000. So people pay and then say "F, it I'll drive drunk what's $2000?"

Not saying that's my attitude, but that's sure what they attitude seems to be. Flip open the Strib on any given day. In the Twin Cities section you'll find someone who just received their 5th , 6th, or 7th DWI.

Quit patronizing your citizens state of MN. Make it be a mandatory 1 yr in jail and a $5000 fine. I guarantee the amount of repeat offenders will drop like flies.

Simple. Elect me.

Yes, Minnesotans drive slow. And then they tail gate you and when you get out of the way, they drive slow again. If they cut you off and you gesture to them, they look the other way and get all scared and back off. Very passive aggressive. Plus they don't know how to merge (hence all the MN-DOT advertisements teaching them how to "zipper" merge). (People...GO TO THE END OF THE DOTTED LINES AND MERGE WHEN IT SAYS "MERGE"...it's NOT rude!...it keeps traffic moving!!)

Welcome to Minnesota!! Other than that, life here is great! (Seriously. They just need better Driver's Ed.)

You can't do much for people that think they're immune to the laws of physics. But you can call them in for reckless driving.

Do the math.

$800+ for fines....

money to get your license back
$ for getting car towed and out of impound
$ for increased insurance rates
$ for court
$ for lawyer
$ for gas to get to court
$ lost out on for missing work to go to multiple court dates

One easily drops roughly $2000 on a dwi
with an altered state of mind people don't care.

Losing a finger, spending a year in jail, or a lifetime tarnishment of a driving record, is more then enough to scare people

I have friends who have had DWIS and will still get in a car and drive home, because they know if they get pulled over the worst that can happen is a measily $2000 fine and a few inconvenient months of Legal BS.

Give them the threat of losing a license for a year or 1 yr in jail and many would think more than just twice.

That's all im saying

If the State of Minnesota really wanted people to NOT drink and drive, they would make it so it would NEVER happen.
