Why do people dislike Minnesota so much? In my opinion is a great place to raise a family.

same reason as north dakota and (eastern) south dakota, it's too cold in the winter, especially in the northern part of the state. Anyways, who cares what other people think. I'd take these areas over NYC or other huge metro areas any day.

Exactly. Most people follow the mainstream and warm weather is trendy right now. Minnesota is an excellent place to live, whether you're single with no kids, married and childfree-by-choice or raising a family.

Truth is most don't even know what Minnesota is like. I didn't before I came here. One can only know it by experiencing it. Heck I didn't even like winter until I moved here, now I love it. Perhaps it is mostly those who can not adopt to the cold that dislike it so much? Otherwise there isn't much reason, the State has something for everyone. Weather you want to live in the city or in an urban or small town situation, it's here.

I'm practically a life-long Minnesota resident and I can understand how outsiders who don't know alot about Minnesota would draw the conclusion that it's cold, isolated and boring here. I think it's a little difficult to realize all the positives of the area until you spend a lot of time here.

The only person I can really think of who would have a legitimate reason for hating/disliking Minnesota and who also spent some time here (prison)?? would be Jesse James? His time in Minneosta did not go so well for him

It is cold and isolated here. That doesn't mean it is cold 12 months out of the year, but it is the coldest major metro area in the U.S. And the Twin Cities are very geographically isolated compared to a lot of the country (certainly one of the most isolated major metro areas). Now those two things don't necessarily mean that it is boring in Minnesota, but they are 100% legitimate criticisms.

I'm not a Minnesota hater, but things that I don't like about it include the fact that winter/cold lasts for six months of the year, the cultural and political climate, high taxes, expensive housing (relative to a lot of places--obviously cheap compared to some, too), lack of SEC football, geographic isolation, and sometimes I get bored of the flatness.

I only hate Minnesota because that's where my ex-wife is from. Anywhere that produces such a c*** is a bad place lol. I'm just kidding. I love MN, but I still hate my ex.

So I guess that means that you agree with me then?
