We are moving to MN (Twin Cities area). We have 41/2 year old son assessed with ASD. I know a little infor mation about the school districts special ed programs, but I have had a really hard time sourcing private programs in MN. Does anyone have any insight?

Groves Academy is 1-12, and I know they take at least kids with mild ASD.

Good luck.

Ru:

I was doing some researching the other day, and I came across this website.
It may be of help, it may not. I don't always trust dr's to know everything.
Good luck on your move.

Ru Sanyanga,

I don't know much about private programs - but the public programs here are 1st rate. I've found homes for 4 families this year who are moving to MN in part because the special education programs for autistic children are so good.

Myself, we have a daughter with autism in the Lakeville school district and we couldn't be happier. The teachers are patient professionals who do fantastic work.

Because there is so much interest in programs for children with autism, I am in the process of compiling a booklet on the different school districts and what they offer. I think that would help a lot of folks in making some big decisions. When that project is completed, I'll make it available to everyone.

I'll look into private programs and let you know what I find. This is good research for me too - as we will be interfacing with these programs more in the future.
