I do have to say I disagree witg the northern minnesota is a dead zone sentiment that is on this thread. I myself grew up on the Iron Range. I left for college and have returned, I found a career to put my finance degree to use within 7 months of moving home. I've also been in touch with several of my old friends all who are doing well. All the mines are running at full capacity, essar steel is opening a new plant, magnetation is opening a new facility, a solar panel maker recently opened in mountain iron. Menards is currently building a store in virginia. A convention center is in the works. Employees at all the cleveland cliffs facilities are getting record profit sharing checks. The economy on the "range" is actually somewhat better than duluths at this time. Although the best healthcare jobs in NE mn will be in duluth. Most of the hospitals/clinics on the iron range are subsidiaries or affiliated with the Duluth locations.

Here we go again with the anti Bemidji rant. Seek therapy please! Possibly from the other phony Dr. Phil.

Everything. Honestly I wish it was a bit more like it was 40+ years ago when I first started going there. But being older I can appreciate having some of the big box stores in town. But still from an outdoorsman view it is still awesome. I don't care as much about the town itself as I will live outside the limits. But that is where the beauty is, there are many more private homes on the lakes but still a great area.
Nothing remains the same forever but Bemidji comes close.

The area around Bemidji is nice. The town is perfect for an outdoors type of person. There were times when I liked Bemidji when I lived there. I would just rather live in a bigger city.
