I had to go to the edge of my little town. The Street Lights alone were enough to make it too hard to see.

didn't see anything and was checking throughout the night into the early morning hours. It was extremely bright out with the full moon. We have a pretty good view to the north with maybe the first 10 degrees or so blocked by trees. I eventually cursed the sky and threw a stick at it in anger.

but tonight...the Geo Institute is rating tonight as a 6 which I don't ever recall seeing this high. Overhead display forecasts are being predicted as far south as near the Iowa border. The horizon activity is shown as far south as Kansas, Missouri & Illinois.

brilliant video from Marquette, MI over Lake Superior from Wednesday (thanks to Nephler from the Alaska Forum)...

That Video is incredible. I too had horizon obstruction, mainly trees and I'm also looking up over a Glacial Drumlin, the area I live in is surrounded by these making it awful nice, except when you wish to see the Northern Horizon.

I'll be out again tonight, so long as the sky is clear-ish towards the north.

I kept wondering if the streaks I was seeing in the sky were clouds or "lights". It was hard to tell. From that video though, I think they may have been lights. I couldn't see any dancing lights but the sky seemed more of a blue/green color around 12:30am. Who knows.
