I spent my early childhood in New Ulm, and remember it fondly. I lived on Roslyn road, not far from a park I can't remember the name of at the end of it.

I remember a lot of great things about the city, including Danheim's dairy store (Mr. Danheim used to give us kids in the neighborhood a ride in his big red Caddillac), Herman the German and the very uniquely decorated Holiday Inn.

What's changed since the late 80's? Is the mall still pretty much deserted aside from the Herberger's? Is the holiday inn still sporting the same medieval motif? Does anyone know Mr. Danheim? If so, tell him I remember him!

I lived on Roslyn Road in the 80's as well, and as you know we had a pretty awesome neighborhood to grow up in- an imaginative bunch of kids we were. The park at the end of the road was Nelle's park. It belonged to farmer Nelle, who was one of the last farmers to have a farm within the city. My babysitter would take me to feed his horse "Pony" with crackers and carrots. I'm quessing we know each other.
