The time-zone is a pretty big issue, the long flights between London and the United States. but whatever it will help the team become more popular, i hope a lot of Scandinavians will show up for those games and cheer for us.

in this particular instance, I'm inclined to side with the arm-chair, nay-sayers who so emphatically denounced any local revenue benefit as negligible...see how that works now?

I'm actually pretty impressed with HKS's two designs. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

I'm sure it will be great. If it's anything like how Target Field turned out, it will be a hit. I have been to my two first Vikings games this season (Vs. Tampa Bay & Detroit) and they have been a blast -- At the Dome of all places. I can't wait for football in the new place!!

I like the first design by HKS over the second, although I hope there is much more street oriented and football oriented stuff outside. From the pictures, they look like plain utopian white and steel and structures that try to look too unique. It can be green, but still, it's a football stadium. It doesn't need to be able to undergo photosynthesis.

I highly doubt any part of this stadium will be "street oriented". They want to get you inside to spend money. At best, we can hope for some healthy development near the site. Perhaps we won't get too many new parking areas?

Default Mortenson Construction of Golden Valley to build stadium.

Locally-based Mortenson Construction, (builder of Target Field) has been chosen to build the stadium. Given how well Target Field turned out, and the fact that its a Minnesota company, that was practically a no-brainer.

They'll be studying if it's possible to build a retractable roof within the $975 million budget, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Ground breaking scheduled for October.

One interesting tidbit: The Vikings originally wanted to play just one season at TCF Bank Stadium, but now it's looking like they might play there for two.
