Closest equivalent for Uptown or NE Minneapolis in Rochester?? (Silver Lake: real estate, crime)

Hi there,

My wife and I are looking to buy a house or duplex in Rochester and are wanting to know what neighborhoods are "up and coming" so to say so we can make a good investment.

We have been looking in SE by Slatterly Park, house prices seem to be low and could provide a good opportunity to flip, but have been told by a few people that house prices will always be dirt cheap their because of crime and poor upkeep by neighbors.

A little farther north by Silver Lake looks to have a more well kept neighborhood feeling and higher prices.

I know we aren't going to find an uptown or NE Minneapolis boom for cool hang outs and real estate in Rochester, but if there were an equivalent, where would it be?

I can't say in comparison to the Cities locations you mention, but you could look at Kutzky park.
