I was looking at the latest obesity statistics. The Midwest is the second most obese region behind the South. Yet Minnesota is 5 points below the national average and by far the least obese Midwestern state. Any theories why?

IT is because of the healthy living, the outdoors that we have, and the winter's that we have to shovel so much.

Highest spending on parks per capita, best biking city, and we are very highly educated. I think fitness begets fitness. In otherwords, even if you don't utilize the bike lanes, if you are surrounded by people who do, you're going to be influenced by them, what they eat, etc.

When I lived in NJ, everyone had a basketball hoop in their driveway. Almost no one does here, because why would you when the nearest park is just around the corner.

Even if MN is near the bottom 10 the obesity rate is still 25% which is still very high compared to previous decades
