What the heck is wrong with people here in Minnasota????????
The Municapal Utility I work for is attempting to meet the Renewable Energy Mandate that was enacted recently. To help us meet that mandate we are planning on building a methane to energy facility on a landfill North of the Cities. Great! Wonderful! you think??? Not some of you! The NIMBY crowd around the sight is fighting our permit at the MPCA. Oh yes you want renewable energy you just don't want in your back yard 10 people are going to kill the project.........

I have no problem with building a methane to energy facility north of the cities, but I do have a problem with building a waste to energy facility in the Phillips neighborhood in Minneapolis. No Midtown Burner!

I've never heard of this proposal. Where do they want to build it?

I thought so too! The end of our public comment period for permit approval was Friday. The MPCA got 10 letters all the same on Thursday complaining about the project now we'll go to public hearing in a month and there's a chance that it may get shut down. Either that or we'll spend thousands fighting them in court and it will be delayed. Our pockets have to be deeper then there's so We'll win some day.....

I'm very familiar with that area. I have family a few miles from there. Will there be any jobs created with the facility?
