I just woke up and my wife told me it's my day with the kids. She needs some major alone time. I am all out of ideas and need some input on where to take my kids for a fun day. I have a 4 year old boy and 7 year old daughter. Anywhere in the Cities would be great. Just don't want to drag them to movies or shopping again. Any thoughts?? thanks!

sorry Hoosier for such a late reply, it sounds like your wife and mine are related. when in doubt, absolute fun with the kids. Maple grove or shoreview community Center, Both offer waterslides. Shorview has a better waterpark. the cost is 7.50 & 6.00 non-resident (NR), Maple grove has a cool & huge climbing park ( what i call Mcdonald's play land ) 4.50, and a smaller waterpark with slide 6.00. so when i have those "Emergency Day's" Hello fun

The Science Museum and Childrens Museum in St. Paul are both great places!

Ditto on St. Paul. Top it all off with a lunch or early dinner at Cosetta's or Mickey's Dining Car.

I vote for the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley. The farm is open, there is a tractor ride and wonderful animals everywhere.

What about a picnic lunch and go to a small park? Spending quality time with your kids shouldn't always mean spending a ton of money to get into something that entertains them. How about going to a nearby lake and fishing from shore? Just an idea. Ofcourse, I am not from the cities so I am not sure how far a lake would be.
