McMansion - $3,999,000.00 with 1003 acres.

The chalet type - $1,499,000.00

The log house - about a million.

BUT there are many lovely homes here, less pretentious, for much less. You can get a nice home with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths a nice kitchen, large living room with built ins, family/sun room, attached carport, outbuildings, storm shelter, large yard (over an acre), room for a garden, close to town (West Plains) for under $100,000.

I have not read the book, nor seen the movie, although I want to very much. My understanding is that is an accurate depiction of the area where I live.

I am not too sure about the ending though....

Great film.
EXTREMELY accurate representation of a small, sad segment of rural life. Unfortunately, the effects of what those people do reach beyond just themselves.

Winter's Bone received FOUR Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Best actress (Jennifer Lawrence, Best supporting actor (John Hawkes) and best adapted screenplay (Debra Granik & Anne Rosellini). An amazing accomplishment for a low-budget film shot on location in the Ozarks.
