Does Missouri still have small roadside stands where people sell their extra home grown veggies? I am so looking forward to some good old home grown veggies from MO. Up around the Franklin and Gasconade Counties we used to be able to buy and sell lots of veggies and fruit. St. James area used to have the most wonderful Concord grapes for sale at lots of roadside stands about the middle of August when they would get ripe.

What I've noticed more and more lately is farmer's markets in most of the larger towns. On occasion, I've seen the FFA kids selling sweet corn and the like on shopping center parking lots.

When we went to Ava on Saturdays they were having a farmers market - many towns everywhere have these now.

I think you can find someone who is selling veggies and such out of the yard or street side just about anywhere.

I was reading on some of the areas websites ... and many of them have farmers markets.

Here in Carthage we have the local farm, Roffman's, which has a permanent building selling seasonal veggies. But right now there are lots of pick-ups with sweet corn, zuchinni, cucumbers and tomatoes pulled up on parking lots. Usually have free puppies and kitties too! Sadly, not much local fruit this year because of the late freeze. Even the orchards at Marionville are selling California peaches. Did the grapes around Herman get frozen? My grapevine has NOTHING on it.

I noticed signs all over 50 highway when I drove to the lake last week. Corn is ready now, and we made a meal of roast'n'ears and sliced tomatoes last night. (Tomatoes from our garden). I'm in the city, no room to grow my own corn.

We drove down to Branson this weekend, through Mount Vernon, Crane and Reeds Springs. Lots of people selling home-grown produce. Melons, corn, green beans, potatoes, tomatoes, blackberries, cucumber, zuchini etc. Also lots of places with homemade relishes, salsa, and fruit butters and jams. I love summer!
