NMD - every place in Missouri gets tornadoes but that is true for nearly all states east of New Mexico, and occasionally, west. This site shows all tornado tracks from 1950 to 2011 Storm Prediction Center Severe Weather GIS (SVRGIS) Page

Not sure what tornado glam might be referring to as we have not had an F-4 in Springfield that I can ever remember. This site lists all major storms in SW Missouri over the last 10 years NWS Springfield, MO - Event Reviews

If an F-4 ever did hit Springfield, particularly on the north side where the homes on average are older, and do not have basements, the results could be devastating. But as Joplin has taught us, and Moore, OK has again confirmed, that is true for any metropolitan area, no matter what state they sit.

I do not know their source, but there are sites online that put the odds of being killed in a tornado at 1 in 2,000,000 while your odds of dieing in a car crash or by a dog are much higher. Useless Facts from Brain of Brian -- Statistics 2
Respect nature's ability to kill, have a plan to protect yourself from any potential tornado (preferably underground), and stay alert to the weather.

Now - how does one protect themselves from an earthquake? That's some scary stuff

I only remember two tornados ever hit Branson in my almost 80 years of living nearby. One in the early 60's that hit the old Branson airport where Whitewater is located now and the one last year previously mentioned by Curmudgeon. I may have missed one when I was "outta here" and living in Kansas City when the vortex of 5 came up Kansas and one tornado tore up Grandview and another hit Blue Springs. The other three stayed in the air and was noisey. I was only gone 7 years.
